Who am I Before all else I am a mother and wife. My husband and I have two boys (6 and 5) and two girls (3 and 1) together who we are raising in our beliefs and practices; my husband also has two children from a previous marriage (girl: 15, boy: 11.)
More About Me With a Taurus Sun, Pisces Moon, and Sag/Scorp Rising, I find myself to be quite contradictory at times. This isn't something to which I strive, and certainly I would minimilize it if I could (Gods know my husband would appreciate it!) as it does seem to needlessly complicate things at times. I am a Fam Trad Pagan. However, this is a fact of practice and the environment in which I was raised. I am neither Pagan nor a Witch because someone else in my family is/was for the ability to practice magick and honor ancient Gods is not something that can be passed by blood. As with all things in life, it is a matter of personal choice; be leery of anyone who claims otherwise. My family are rather simple, uncomplicated farmers. Our ancestors came to the US in the 1800's to escape starvation, and the majority of us, since then, have lived very close to the land, pulling our existence from it. As a child I was told of the existence of Spirits, not just of the departed but of those in Nature and was encouraged to learn to communicate with them. Some of the Spirits I was introduced to I've been fortunate in identifying original names, that which they were called by my pre-Christian Polish ancestors, and this knowledge aids greatly in strengthening relationships with Them. I have no proof that the beliefs and practices with which I was raised go back any further than my grandparents, though I imagine they must because they had to come from somewhere. As such, I make no claims to it going back any further than the three generations to which I have first-hand knowledge (albeit four generations, if you count my children.) However, as there is little left to my family's beliefs and practices aside from 6 months of harvest celebrations and paying homage to a few of these Spirits, my husband and I have supplemented this Tradition with aspects of Neo-Paganism in order to render a truly viable practice, one that we can pass onto our children, that they will hopefully see worth in and choose to pass on to theirs. The practice of magick/witchcraft is also something that we have added, as it is something that both of us independently came to at a rather young age. I feel it fits in well with the non-dualistic viewpoint of the world to which I was introduced and its practice is beneficial and complimentary. My approach to witchcraft is utterly practical: it is pragmatic, based in common sense, relatively uncomplicated, and grounded in daily application; this allows me a great deal of versatility and efficacy and makes it a joy to teach to the children. I am an ordained Pagan Minister and functioning Priestess within my local community, an Energy Healer, Herbalist, writer, non-militant Vegetarian, and dandelion rights activist.
