Feb 7th 2012 -- Full Moon Question?
What is the name of February's Full Moon???
Reason for asking is because after researching this question, I'm coming up with conflicting names.
The Witches’ Almanac Issue #31 Spring 2012 to Spring 2013 calls this moon “Storm Moon”. Laura called it the Quickening Moon.. So, why all the diff names?
Quote from Full Moon Names and Their Meanings Web Site: • Full Snow Moon – February Since the heaviest snow usually falls during this month, native tribes of the north and east most often called February’s full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult.
So, what do *you* call Feb 7th 2012's Moon??

im guessing in different areas, different names would apply. As some areas are beginning summer, some mid-winter, some seeing spring time changes already.. The Chinese called this moon the Budding Moon in anticipation of spring. And to my knowledge the Storm Moon is in march around the time of the Equinox (Ostara).... not saying what you read is wrong, just basing off what i know, which could also be wrong.
so to me, living in south east virginia, where we rarely see any snow at all anymore.. i'd lean toward the Budding Moon, as my flowers are already blooming out front (anticipating spring). But between the Snow and Storm question, I'd go with Snow.
