How many of you are so tired, and ready for winter to be over? The cold harsh weather has just zapped your skin to the point you feel your "Face has Cracked and Fell Off!".. I know the visual of that is funny, lol, however, if you are like me, this darn winter is killing your face, and it's so dry and sluffy.
Let's face it. January's blast of cold winter air can chap and crack your skin.. Not to mention the long days cooped up in overheated building, and how that can just zap your spirit/energy levels... So now your "Face has fallen off, your spirit/energy levels have bottomed out, your butts dragging, and their you are just sitting, waiting for winter to be over.. Am I right?
So, how about we turn to the ole Witch's herb cupboard, we all have one. Believe it or not, 99% of what we use everyday to cook with, is the best stuff to be used on the skin. It's also way better than some $100 - 1/2oz junk something you buy at the store. And, any good Witch worth her salt knows that herbs can heal the spirit/energy levels, as well as everything from your nose, to your toes, inside and out.. Ahh and on the "Cool, I Done That" point, we all know their's something especially magickal and healing in a potion we've made ourselves with all natural ingredients. Hay, you make it yourself, at'least you know what's in it, and if you get a fat lip, well you know what NOT to use next time, ha'ha'ha. Ok, last part was a joke, NO fat lips here, I promise..
Almond meal/paste and almond oil have been used in fine cosmetics for mega years. Almond meal/almond oil are recommended for cosmetics because they both are superior moisturizing and softening agents. Ok, here's where the FAT LIP WARNING comes into play.. **If you are allergic to nuts, or intend to make this cosmetic as a gift for a friend, you may want to substitute with Oatmeal (oat flakes ground fine) and/or a non-nut oil of your choice.** I personally like using coconut flakes (ground fine) for a facial (and body) moisturizing lotion.. Smells fantastic makes me think of the warm sandy beaches, and has just as many superior moisturizing and softening agents in it as Almond meal/paste does.
The below (suitable for all skin types) soothing potion will help you get rid of the winter-warn cracks in your face.. The essential oils, (you can choose from several, with different effects), provide a subtle aromatherapy lifting your spirits/energy levels, while the herbs and almond do their work by soothing and smoothing your dry cracked skin.
Again FAT LIP WARNING, if you are allergic to nuts, substitute with something else, (oatmeal, coconut)..
HELP! My Face Fell Off - Potion Mask
Items Needed:
2 tbs Almond Meal (almonds ground very fine) or Almond Paste
1 tbs Powdered Mint
1 tbs Powdered Chamomile
2 Drops Chamomile essential oil, (or oil of your choice)
* Yogurt
*Aloe Gel, enough to make a paste (you can purchase a small bottle at your local grocery store) I like to purchase the aloe leaf in produce department.
How To Make:
In a ceramic/glass/steal bowl (no plastic please) mix the almond meal, powdered mint and powdered chamomile together. -- Add enough aloe gel and yogurt to make a paste. Start small, you can always add, but you can never take out... -- Next add the essential oil.
Now, if the paste is to thin, add more almond meal; (remember little bits at a time, you can always add but never take out).. If it's to thick, add a bit of aloe gel or yogurt.
To Use:
Wash your face with a mild facial soap pat dry.. Next apply a thin layer of the potion mask with a small brush. I use a cheap soft bristle paint brush because you are never suppose to use your fingers on your face. The dirt from your hands get into your face pours, as well as your fingers draw and stretch the skin causing wrinkles.
Leave on for about 10 minutes or so.. Lay down some place comfortable, close your eyes, and meditate on a soothing relaxing place. When you are done meditating and the Potion Mask has started to dry, rinse off gently and pat dry.... If you would like after you dry your face, you can apply a thin coat of Vit E oil for further softening...
Refrigerate for up to a week. (This will make 3 to 4 masks.)
Product comments:
*Almonds: are pretty expensive, and almond paste is totally out there in price.. That's why I offered Coconut Flakes as a substitute. You can pick up a bag of those for a dollar or two.. And the small of coconut always reminds me of warm sandy beaches..
*Mint: if you can't get your hands on the fresh, you can pick up a bottle at any dollar store for 50c to a dollar.
*Chamomile: fresh chamomile is sometimes hard to find so if you can't get the fresh, buy a cheap box of chamomile tea and cut open one of the bags.
*Ess Oil: the 2 drops of ess oil was more or less for smell.. You can substitute with what ever you have on hand you like.. However, with any ess oils, FAT LIP WARNING, always test it on your wrist or arm first to make sure your not allergic, and never put anything on your face your unsure of.
*Yogurt: a cheap (1 cup) store name plain yogurt is all you need. Again, you won't need much so their's no need to jump out there and buy something expensive. Yogurt is yogurt, keep it simple.
*Aloe Gel: now some of you are flipping a bit, scratching your heads trying to figure out where to get Aloe gel from.. Grocery store/wal-mart have it all over the place.. You can pick up a cheap store brand of aloe gel in the pharmacy section. You can get Aloe Gel in the nutrition section and lotion section, those are not pure and cost quit a bit.. Last my fav is the produce section.. You can buy the whole aloe leaf for a few dollars, and what you don't use, their are tons of recipes for Aloe Leaf on the net.. Have fun conjuring up your HELP! My Face Fell Off - Potion Mask
